Course Description
Empower. Innovate. Lead.
This two-day Women in Surgery (WINS) forum is designed to bring veterinary surgeons together to advance clinical expertise, strengthen professional resilience, and foster a supportive community within orthopedic surgery. Through a combination of expert-led lectures, case-based panel discussions, and hands-on laboratory training, participants will explore the principles and practical application of joint arthrodesis across the forelimb and hindlimb.
The program features focused sessions on carpal and tarsal arthrodesis, including tips, techniques, and decision-making strategies for procedures such as partial versus pancarpal arthrodesis. Attendees will engage in interactive panel discussions and case reviews that emphasize clinical reasoning, fixation selection, and postoperative management. Dedicated ArthroLab™ experiences provide the opportunity to apply these concepts in a hands-on setting using current plating systems and instrumentation.
In addition to technical training, the forum highlights professional development and peer collaboration through resident abstract presentations and facilitated group discussions. Topics include protecting surgical repairs, managing complex trauma cases, and cultivating strength and perspective in challenging clinical environments. The program culminates in collaborative case-sharing sessions, encouraging participants to exchange insights and build lasting professional connections.
Special Opportunity: Two resident abstracts will be selected for presentation during the forum. If chosen, presenters will receive discounted registration and domestic travel to the course. Please submit all abstracts to vet_meded@arthrex.com no later than end of day on Friday, November 20th.
